We serve the most organically baked version of the acclaimed Ooty Varkey, made of pure wheat flour, with palatable crusty outside and puffy inside.
Since the colonial rule, Ooty is famous for its Varkey. No one knows how or when it came in to existence or how it came to be called Varkey. Baked to a golden brown, it looks more like a lump of dough that the chef forgot to finish shaping. But dip the varkey in a cup of tea or coffee, and it becomes instantly addictive. Soak a few in boiling milk, and 10 minutes later, it becomes a mushy breakfast food, like a bowl of cereal.
We use the good old mechanism of wood fire ovens, one of its only kind in Ooty right now, which gives an unmatchable taste to the Varkey when compared to the machine baked variety.
We are located near the Ooty Botanical Garden, opposite to the Sai Baba Temple. We currently have only in-store delivery. Bulk orders will be taken on availability basis.
